Itinerary

Day 1:

On arrival you will be met by your host and escorted to your accommodation, your base for the next three nights

Day 2:

Experience a fascinating tour showcasing the highlights of Australia’s First Heritage Listed City, including a tour down the historic Daydream Mine. We then head out to the ghost town of Silverton for lunch at the infamous Silverton Hotel and bask in the footsteps of Mad Max. Back to Broken Hill to finish the day with a visit to the Sculpture Symposium at sunset.

Day 3:

Today we continue our Silver Trail adventure and take in the Miner’s Memorial on the line of Lode where the views over Broken Hill are spectacular. We also visit the home of the home of the “Big Picture” the world’s largest acrylic on canvas. The Geo Centre houses the stunning Silver Tree and a glimpse of our Geological history. We take in our Railway Museum which shows us our rich migrant history and our famous Pro Hart Gallery.

Day 4:

After breakfast we begin our adventure travelling north east of Broken Hill towards the unique outback opal-mining town of ‘White Cliffs’. Australia’s oldest commercial opal fields. See Australia’s first solar power station. You’ll visit Red Earth Opal Underground Mine Tour & Showroom, a chance to purchase opals direct from the source. (overnight White Cliffs Underground Motel)

Day 5:

Today we travel north towards the remote “Corner Country”. Lunch will be at the historic Milparinka Hotel. There will be time to see the newly opened Gold Fields and Charles Sturt/Sidney Kidman inter-pretive centres. Then it's on to Tibooburra, the most remote town in NSW, our base for the next two nights. Tibooburra is the capital of the Corner Country, and is the essence of an outback town. Established at the height of the gold rush, many of the early buildings remain. The culture of the community reflects Tibooburras’ heritage, and with a population of appx 150 there are plenty of fascinating conversations to be had around the bar of one of the town’s authentic outback pubs.

Day 6:

Wake to the sound of Outback silence. After breakfast, travel through spectacular Sturt National Park. Continue through stunning red sandhill country to the dingo fence and Cameron Corner where SA, QLD and NSW meet. Return to Tibooburra for overnight stay

Day 7:

After breakfast we travel south through ever changing landscapes with plenty of photo opportunities along the way. Time and conditions permitting, we will share a cuppa with one of the locals who will share their story with you about living in the very isolated part of Australia. We head onto a quintessential outback Roadhouse; you will enjoy its outback hospitality with a chance to check out the memorabilia from the wool industry displayed in the rustic dining room.

Day 8 :

Today we head to the National Park of Mutawintji. The Park has been a significant meeting place for local Aboriginal Tribes for thousands of years. The communities have performed initiations, rainmaking and other ceremonies here in gatherings of up to 1000 people. Your Aboriginal Guide will bring to life the paintings, stencils and engravings that depict pre and post-colonial Aboriginal history, as well as the animals that live in the area. After this fascinating day we travel south back to Broken Hill where your adventure will come to an end but your memories will live on with you forever.
